representing the Minister for Health:
(1) Has the
contract for the emergency department medical director for the south west under
the WA Country Health Service been advertised, renewed or cancelled in the last
six months?
(2) If no to (1), when does the
current contract expire, and when will it be filled?
(3) Have any of
the contracts for all resident medical officers under the WA Country Health
Service been advertised, awarded or extended in the last six months?
(4) If no to (3), when do the
current contracts expire, and when will they be filled?
(5) What action has the government
taken to ensure that these positions are filled and maintained?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) No.
(2) The date is 9 October 2021.
(3) Yes. A number
of resident medical officer contracts have been advertised, awarded and/or
extended in the last six months.
(4) Not applicable.
(5) Recruitment
for resident medical officers within the WA Country Health Service is
undertaken annually via the centralised
recruitment process coordinated by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer,
Department of Health. WACHS liaises with the Office of the Chief Medical
Officer regarding its annual requirements. WACHS monitors regional vacancies
that may arise outside of the annual process due to resignations or new
position creations and appoints to these positions via the centralised
recruitment pool maintained by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer.
