ALBANY HIGHWAY INTERSECTIONS

715. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to Albany Highway and the intersections with Crossman Road and Crossman-Dwarda Road.

(1) Can the minister please provide the crash statistics for each aforementioned intersection of Albany Highway per year, for the last four years?

(2) Can the minister please advise the ranking for each intersection mentioned above for crash frequency?

(3) Can the minister please summarise the planned development at each intersection to address road safety concerns?

(4) Can the minister please identify the estimated cost of improvements for each intersection mentioned above?

(5) What funding has been allocated in the 2019–20 state budget to commence works at these intersections?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

On behalf of the Minister for Environment, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The Minister for Transport has provided the following information.

(1) At the intersection of Albany Highway and Crossman Road, in 2018, one crash; and in 2017, 2016 and 2015, nil. At the intersection of Albany Highway and Crossman-Dwarda Road, in 2018, 2017 and 2016, nil; and in 2015, one crash.

(2) The state frequency rank for the intersection of Albany Highway and Crossman Road is 6 689. The state frequency rank for the intersection of Albany Highway and Crossman-Dwarda Road is also 6 689.

(3) Proposed future improvement works include widening to the existing pavement to enable right-turn bays into Crossman Road North, also known as Crossman-Dwarda Road, and Crossman Road South. The works involve widening of the existing carriageway, drainage improvements, line marking and reconstruction of an existing parking bay.

(4) The anticipated cost of future improvement works at both intersections is $1.89 million.

(5) No funding has been allocated in the 2019–20 state budget for works at these intersections.
