I
refer to Cape Peron Working Group’s report into the future of the Cape Peron
area and the Government’s commitment to progressing nine recommendations of
this report, and I ask:
(a) could
the Minister please advise what actions remain to be undertaken to finalise the
reservation of this land as a Class A reserve as per recommendation 1 of the
report;
(b) does
the Minister have a timeline for undertaking these actions, and if so:
(i) could
the Minister please advise what that timeline is for each of these actions;
(c) could
the Minister please advise if the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage
have taken part in any action towards progressing recommendation 5, a study of
the transport needs in and around Cape Peron:
(i) could
the Minister please advise what actions have taken place and when; and
(d) could
the Minister please advise if any action towards recommendation 4, the
alignment and design of the potential Garden Island Highway has taken place:
(i) could
the Minister please advise what those actions have been, and when they took place?

(a)-(b) A survey and Deposited Plan is being prepared to define the extent of Stage 1 of the Class A reserve boundary, and is anticipated to be finalised shortly.
(c) The Department is represented on the Cape Peron Implementation Committee and has assisted the City of Rockingham in preparing a detailed scope for a transport study.
(d) Recommendation 4 recognises the existing Metropolitan Region Scheme reservation for the potential Garden Island Highway. Further action regarding the alignment and design of the highway will be undertaken if the highway is required to be constructed.
