Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Tabled Paper No: 1659- View tabled paper

Question

(1) Given that the answer to question on notice No. 1098, asked in the Legislative Council on 29 March 2018, which lists 14 live mining leases held by Alcoa of Australia Limited as Holder 1 and Mitchell Plateau Bauxite Co. Pty Ltd as Holder 2, and that former Premier Hon. Colin Barnett on 24 March 2015 stated that the Mitchell Plateau State Agreement (MPSA), which covers a temporary reserve of about 175,900 hectares for the establishment of an alumina refinery, the protection of the area's bauxite resources and 14 mining leases, was to be terminated to allow more than 175,000 hectares of land on the Mitchell Plateau to be included in the proposed Kimberley National Park, were those 14 mining leases referred to within the MPSA temporary reserve ever cancelled or surrendered?
(2) If yes to (1), when?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) Will the Minister provide a map showing the location of the 14 live mining leases?
(5) Do any of the 14 live mining leases impinge on the area referred to by Mr Barnett?
