Question Without Notice No. 174 asked in the Legislative Council on 16 March 2022 by Hon Dr Brad Pettitt

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

GOVERNMENT FLEET — ELECTRIC VEHICLES

174. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the Minister for Finance:

I refer to the state government's commitment to achieve a minimum 25 per cent electric vehicle target for eligible government fleet vehicles by 2025–26 in the state electric vehicle strategy for Western Australia.

(1) How many and what percentage of government fleet vehicles are eligible vehicles?

(2) What government fleet vehicles are not eligible vehicles?

(3) How many and what percentage of the eligible vehicles are electric vehicles to date?

(4) How many and what percentage of total fleet vehicles are electric vehicles to date?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) There are 1 871 eligible vehicles or 21.5 per cent.

(2) A range of vehicles are excluded, including police vehicles, medium/large passenger vehicles, large sports utility vehicles, other light commercial vehicles, including utilities and vans; and any vehicle parked overnight at a private residence, including vehicles administered by the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal.

(3)–(4) The state government is expecting delivery of additional electric state fleet vehicles. Delivery has been impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic and associated global supply chain issues. If the honourable member wishes to place the question on notice, additional statistics may be able to be provided.
