Question

(1) I refer to water licence applications in the Kimberley, and ask:

(a) how many applications are currently being assessed by the Department of Water;
(b) for each application, will the Minister detail the area and volume, and whether they are for surface or groundwater;
(c) if no to (b), why not;
(d) how much water is currently licenced to be used in the Kimberley;
(e) how much water is being removed from the Fitzroy River and any other rivers or wetlands in the Kimberley;
(f) have any water licence applications in the Kimberley been rejected in the past four years;
(g) if yes to (f), will the Minister list the rejected applications along with the amount of water sought and the reasons for the rejection; and
(h) if no to (g), why not?
(2) I refer to water licence applications for the Fitzroy River, and ask:
(a) how many applications are currently being assessed by the Department of Water;
(b) what is the volume for each application;
(c) what are the locations for the applications; and
(d) what is the proposed method of extraction?

(b) The Minister is not able to detail the land area however the volume applied for surface and groundwater are detailed [See attached paper no.].
(c) The land areas are not provided because it is not a regulated variable on a water licence.
(d) 377 214 689 kilolitres per year
(e) 334 491 910 kilolitres per year which includes 308 241 910 kilolitres from the main Ord River.
