Question Without Notice No. 178 asked in the Legislative Council on 14 March 2019 by Hon Dr Steve Thomas

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT LINK — SOIL CONTAMINATION

178. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to my question asked yesterday, 13 March 2019, on PFAS-contaminated soil excavated from the Forrestfield–Airport Link.

(1) When did the Minister for Transport have preliminary discussions with the then Peel Development Commission deputy chair Greg Poland on the Forrestfield tunnel spoil disposal, as evidenced in the July 2018 letter from commission chair Paddi Creevey tabled yesterday?

(2) What did those discussions entail?

(3) Who is the Corina Johnson identified in the same letter and what relationship does the Minister for Transport have with her?

(4) In what capacity was Corina Johnson meeting with the Peel Development Commission to discuss the ''potential sites within the Peel region that may be able to accommodate the spoil''?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(2) The topic of Forrestfield–Airport Link spoil was raised by Mr Poland in his capacity as deputy chair of the Peel Development Commission in April 2018 in a meeting regarding Hillarys Boat Harbour.

(3) I table the attached photo; she is third from left. The minister has no specific relationship with Ms Johnson.

[See paper 2470.]

(4) That is a matter for Corina Johnson and the Peel Development Commission.
