DOMESTIC GAS RESERVATION
POLICY — WAITSIA GAS PROJECT
829. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the
Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade:
I refer to the minister's
claims in a media statement of 17 August that his new gas reservation policy
will help ensure that the Waitsia gas project stage 2 proceeds to construction
and that it will create 200 construction jobs. Given that these numbers are
publicly available, I assume that there are no commercial-in-confidence
requirements around them.
(1) Who at Waitsia did the
government liaise with during the formulation of the policy?
(2) Who at Waitsia provided the
data that is the basis of these claims?
(3) When did Waitsia provide the
data?
(4) Can the minister table the data
on which these claims are based?
Hon
ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the
question. This information has been provided by the Minister for State
Development, Jobs and Trade.
(1) The
Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation has been engaging with the
Waitsia joint venture on approvals to allow the export of some its reserves
through the Karratha gas plant.
(2) The Waitsia
joint venture provided information on its project development plans in support
of its request for export approval during discussions with the department.
(3) Refer to the answer to (2).
(4) The information was provided on
a confidential basis.
