LANDS — MURUJUGA
ABORIGINAL CORPORATION
170. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the
Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to the 221-hectare area of
land known as site L, which was ceded to the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation on
Thursday, 25 July 2019, and temporary reserve 70/6697.
(1) Will temporary reserve 70/6697
be amended to exclude site L from its boundaries?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Will temporary reserve 70/6697
be amended to reflect the World Heritage nomination of the area?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN
replied:
I thank the member for the question.
The following information has been provided by the Minister for Mines and
Petroleum.
(1) Yes, because it is private land.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) No.
(4) The temporary reserve was created for the purposes
of the North West Shelf gas project. The area nominated for World
Heritage will not be considered for excision at this stage as it remains a nomination.
