Question Without Notice No. 692 asked in the Legislative Council on 12 October 2017 by Hon Nick Goiran
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
SPECIALIST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION UNIT — RECOMMISSIONING
692. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the minister's answer to my question without notice on 10 October 2017 in which she irrelevantly informed the house about WA Police's introduction of the family violence special case team in March 2017.
(1) Has the government abandoned its commitment to recommissioning the WA Police specialist domestic violence investigation unit?
(2) If no, when is the unit scheduled to be recommissioned?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.
(1)–(2) As the honourable member was advised on 6 September 2017, the Western Australian police force introduced the family violence special case team comprising dedicated investigators who are responsible for the investigation of perpetrators who commit multiple offences with multiple victims across multiple police districts. The government and WA police force continue to work on the implementation of our election commitments.
