ARALUEN BOTANIC PARK —
2018–19 STATE BUDGET
655. Hon
MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:
I refer to the 10-year funding boost
to Araluen Botanic Park announced by the minister on Monday, 4 June 2018.
(1) What is the
total amount of increased funding in 2018–19 and each year of the
forward estimates?
(2) Was this
additional funding anticipated at the time of the 2018–19 state budget
or is it additional to the budget allocation?
(3) If no to (2),
where will the additional funding be found for this purpose?
(4) Was a business
case prepared for the additional project funding; and, if so, please provide a copy?
(5) On what date
did cabinet approve the additional funding and funding agreement to Araluen
Botanic Park?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) There is
additional funding of $100 000 for 2018–19 and each year over the
forward estimates.
(2) The
additional funding was anticipated at the time of the budget.
(3) Not
applicable.
(4) As part of
the 2018–19 state budget process, the Western Australian Planning
Commission, as owner of the park, made a funding proposal to the government
that provided details of the proposed grant, governance and change of
management structure. This reflected that the previous management agreement
between the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and the WA
Planning Commission expired on 30 June 2018.
(5) The
additional funding was incorporated as part of the 2018–19 budget
process.
