Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 467 asked in the Legislative Council on 14 May 2019 by Hon Robin Chapple

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

AGED-CARE FACILITIES — KIMBERLEY

467. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to the aged-care facilities in the Kimberley—Germanus Kent House in the Shire of Broome and Juniper Numbala Nunga residential care in the Shire of Derby–West Kimberley.

(1) Have any Shire of Derby–West Kimberley residents been cared for in Germanus Kent House, the Shire of Broome aged-care facility?

(2) If yes to (1), how many?

(3) If yes to (1), why?

(4) Have any Shire of Broome residents been cared for in Juniper Numbala Nunga, the Shire of Derby–West Kimberley aged-care facility?

(5) If yes to (4), how many?

(6) If yes to (4), why?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I have been advised of the following.

(1)–(6) Germanus Kent House and Juniper Numbala Nunga are privately run residential aged-care facilities and therefore the WA Country Health Service is unable to provide any information about residents receiving care in either facility. WACHS has one patient at Germanus Kent House in Broome only for respite. There are no patients awaiting placement in the Shire of Derby–West Kimberley.
