ELDER ABUSE —
DRAFT STRATEGY
755. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Seniors and Ageing:
I refer to the Leader of the House's
answer to my question without notice 733 on 6 August 2019 in which she informed
the house that all 35 recommendations made in the final report of the Select
Committee into Elder Abuse have been incorporated into the ''Draft WA
Strategy to Respond to the Abuse of Older People (Elder Abuse)''.
(1) Is the
minister aware that the government's response to the select committee
report did not accept all the recommendations?
(2) Has the government now changed
its response?
(3) If no to
(2), has the minister directed the department to amend the draft strategy to
remove the incorporation of the recommendations that the government has not
accepted?
(4) If no to (2)
or (3), how will the department implement the recommendations that the
government has not accepted?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3) No.
(4) All 35
recommendations have been incorporated into the draft strategy. The
recommendations will be addressed through a range of approaches consistent with
the government's response to the select committee report.
