Question Without Notice No. 1256 asked in the Legislative Council on 10 November 2020 by Hon Robin Scott

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

HOUSING — NOONGAR BOODJA TRUST

1256. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the minister representing the Minister for Housing:

I refer to the Noongar housing program that will see the Western Australian Housing Authority, as part of the Department of Communities, transfer 121 properties located in the south west region and metropolitan area to the Noongar Boodja Trust.

(1) Can the minister confirm that the Housing Authority will also provide the trust with $10 million in taxpayers' money for the refurbishment, upgrade, repair or demolition of these properties?

(2) If yes, once that $10 million has been spent, will the department be liable to pay for ongoing repairs and maintenance of the houses?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.

(1) Yes.

(2) No; there will be no ongoing liability for the Department of Communities following the transfer of the properties and the full expenditure of the $10 million.
