NORTH WEST WATER POLICE UNIT — CLOSURE
      157. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the minister representing the Minister for Police:
      (1) Is the minister aware of a media statement issued on Sunday, 25 March 2018, by Councillor Peter Long, Mayor of the City of Karratha? I quote —
          ''It is with great regret that we have learned —
      Through the press today —
          of the decision to retire WA Water Police vessel Delphinus which is currently based in Dampier,'' �
          ''Delphinus � has been heavily involved in a number of security and safety incidents including the recent drug bust in Dampier Port, marine accidents such as The Returner fishing boat sinking, island rescues, and the helicopter incident in Port Hedland.''
      (2) Will the minister list the local government and community leaders who were consulted in this decision?
      (3) What was the cost of operating the north west water police for the most recent 12-month period for which the figures are available to the minister?

I am not happy with the answer that has been provided, so I will see whether I can get a better answer for the member for tomorrow.
