Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 572 asked in the Legislative Council on 11 June 2020 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

STANDING COMMITTEE ON PROCEDURE AND PRIVILEGES — FIFTY-FIFTH REPORT —DEPARTMENT OF THE PREMIER AND CABINET

572. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:

This question is asked on behalf of Hon Simon O'Brien, who is away on urgent parliamentary business.

I refer to the Corruption and Crime Commission notices to produce dated 12 April 2019 and 11 June 2019 served on the then director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

(1) On what date did the then director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet advise the Attorney General that the director general had received a CCC notice to produce the email and other records of former members and their staff?

(2) If the director general did not communicate directly with the Attorney General, how and when was the existence of the CCC notice first brought to the Attorney General's attention?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

I had indicated to the member behind the Chair that because I was at the table there is something in that answer that I need to check, and so I cannot give the member an answer today, but I will endeavour to give him an answer next Tuesday.
