Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 1226 asked in the Legislative Council on 5 November 2020 by Hon Jacqui Boydell

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

BUILDING BONUS GRANTS — CONDITIONS

1226. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the minister representing the Minister for Finance:

I refer to the minister's recent media statement headed ''Building Bonus extension to provide WA job certainty'', as well as question without notice 1184 asked by Hon Martin Aldridge on 3 November.

(1) Why did the media statement not clearly state that this extension does not apply for single-tier developments and owner–builders?

(2) What steps is the government taking to ensure that people are not making financial decisions based on the misleading information in the media statement?

(3) Please provide a breakdown of the building bonus grants that have been approved and declined by region.

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(2) The eligibility and time frames for the very successful McGowan government building bonus program are clearly stated on the state government's website as well as clearly displayed as part of the application process.

(3) The information to answer this question is not readily available. To meet the implementation time frame, the system for processing the building bonus grants was built in stages. The data from additional reporting functionality to provide detailed information about grant payments and recipients is expected to be available by the end of November 2020.
