Question Without Notice No. 267 asked in the Legislative Council on 15 June 2021 by Hon Tjorn Sibma

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

NUMBAT HABITATS — PRESCRIBED BURNING PROGRAM

267. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the Minister for Environment:

I refer to remarks attributed to the minister in an ABC online news article of 13 May 2021 titled ''WA Environment Minister to visit scene of DBCA's Perup burn-off amid fears for numbats''. I refer to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions' internal review into the matter.

(1) Has DBCA completed the review; and, if not, when is the department likely to complete the review?

(2) Will the minister direct that the review be made public in a full and unredacted form; and, if not, why not?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for Environment.

(1) Yes.

(2) No. The review is internal to the department and for operational purposes only.
