Question Without Notice No. 496 asked in the Legislative Council on 24 August 2017 by Hon Donna Faragher
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
INDEPENDENT PUBLIC SCHOOLS — REVIEW
496. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and Training:
I refer to the independent review of each independent public school in the final year of its three-year agreement with the director general of the Department of Education, which was previously undertaken by the Department of Education Services.
Given that the Department of Education Services has now amalgamated with the Department of Education, is the Department of Education now performing the independent review functions?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
Due to the amalgamation of the two departments, the reviews of independent public schools, formally undertaken through the Department of Education Services, have now been subsumed into the responsibilities of the Department of Education. The process continues to be undertaken by reviewers contracted from outside the Department of Education. The department is reviewing alternative quality assurance arrangements for all public schools, including independent public schools.
