ABORIGINAL HERITAGE —
MINING LEASE 47/1566
1199. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the
Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to mining lease 47/1566 held
by Norwest Sand and Gravel Pty Ltd, and to registered Aboriginal site 621 on
this lease and the adjacent site 11866.
(1) With reference to the mining lease, were the
relevant native title parties consulted; and, if yes, whom and when?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Regarding the program of works for M47/1566, what
and when did the proponent advise the Department of Mines, Industry
Regulation and Safety in relation to Aboriginal heritage surveys?
(4) Regarding the program of works for M47/1566, what
and when did the proponent advise the Department of Mines, Industry
Regulation and Safety in relation to section 18 approval?
(5) In what
manner, if at all, did the program of works by Norwest Sand and Gravel Pty Ltd
address whether activity at the site would cause environmental impacts, including
impacts to Aboriginal heritage sites?
(6) Will the minister please table
the program of works?
(7) If no to (6), why not?

The following information has been provided by the Minister for Mines
and Petroleum.
(1) The Ngarluma
Aboriginal Corporation was notified on 20 July 2018 that the application had
been applied for. On 20 August 2018,
Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation and Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation were
notified by letter of the commencement of the section 31 negotiation process.
(2) Not applicable.
(3)–(6) No programs of work
have been applied for on this pending tenement.
(7) Not applicable.
