CORONAVIRUS —
PORT PROTOCOLS
222. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Minister for Ports:
I refer to the minister's
statement in Parliament last week regarding port protocols in response to
COVID-19.
(1) Have risk
assessments been undertaken at all Western Australian port authorities to
identify potential points of contact for the transfer of COVID-19, including
ship pilots, stevedores, mooring crews, service providers and suppliers?
(2) If yes to
(1), what procedures or protocols have been implemented as a result of these
assessments for each port authority?
(3) If no to (1),
why have these risk assessments not been undertaken as a matter of urgency?
Hon
DARREN WEST replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. On behalf of the Minister for Ports, I provide the
following answer.
(1)–(3) All
Western Australian port authorities are working closely with commonwealth
government agencies such as the Australian Border Force; the Department of
Agriculture, Water and the Environment; and the Department of Health to
implement agreed, nationally consistent, additional border security measures to
reduce the spread of COVID-19. Each port has its own set of unique
circumstances and therefore each port authority has assessed the particular
risks and threats to safety of its employees, industry partners and the
community in the conduct of its business.
