Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 492 asked in the Legislative Council on 24 August 2017 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

SYNERGY — LATE PAYMENTS AND DISCONNECTIONS
      492. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Energy:
      (1) What were the number of late payments to Synergy for each month January to August 2017, inclusive?
      (2) What were the number of disconnections by Synergy for each month January to August 2017, inclusive?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question.
I sought further advice from the minister on the answer and was told that the following answer still stands.
      (1) To extract this information would require a considerable amount of time and divert staff away from Synergy's core business. It is not a reasonable or appropriate use of resources.
      (2) Synergy disconnected the following residential and commercial customers per month between January and August 2017: January, 1 165; February, 1 622; March, 1 650; April, 791; May, 2 544; June, 1 346; July, 1 860; and, to 23 August 2017, 1 391.
Note that numbers may change due to adjustments and is only accurate at the time the report was run.
