Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 89 asked in the Legislative Council on 23 May 2017 by Hon Col Holt

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

BUNBURY WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT — BUSINESS CASE
      89. Hon COL HOLT to the Minister for Regional Development:
Congratulations on your appointment, Madam President.
Given the minister's answers to questions without notice 23 and 44, clearly a high value is placed on sound business cases. I refer also to the minister's recent announcement of $65 million from royalties for regions funds for the Bunbury waterfront.
(1) Was a sound business case prepared to justify this expenditure?
(2) Will the minister table the business case?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the question.
(1)–(2) I can assure the member that the McGowan government is committed to the pledges that we made during the election, including the funding of the job‑creating Bunbury waterfront development. As outlined in the relevant election commitment, a business case is currently being prepared for stage 3 of the waterfront project. I thank the member for the opportunity to remind the Legislative Council of the overwhelming endorsement given to the project by the people of Bunbury, who gave Labor's new member Don Punch the strongest swing to the Labor Party in the entire state.
