LANDS — MURUJUGA
ABORIGINAL CORPORATION
987. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the
Minister for Lands:
I refer to the 221-hectare area of
land known as site L, ceded to the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation on Thursday,
25 July 2019, and the statement —
The recent transfer of additional
land in freehold tenure to the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation is the result of
a separate commitment by the Premier to MAC dated February 2019.
(1) Will the freehold tenure of the land have the
same status as freehold title to the Burrup non-industrial land, in accordance
with the relevant clauses contained within the Burrup and Maitland Industrial
Estates Agreement?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), how?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) Consistent
with the existing Murujuga National Park, as per the Burrup and Maitland Industrial
Estates Agreement, site L is freehold title to the exclusive
benefit of MAC and is the subject of a restrictive covenant in gross,
which precludes any industrial activity or uses on the land.
