Question Without Notice No. 700 asked in the Legislative Council on 12 October 2017 by Hon Simon O’Brien

Minister responding: Hon S.F. McGurk
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Answered on 12 October 2017

      700. Hon SIMON O'BRIEN to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Community Services:
      (1) What benefits and efficiencies have been realised through the creation of the Department of Communities?
(2) If the answer to (1) is none, what benefits and efficiencies are expected to be obtained and when?
      (3) What are the organisational arrangements for delivering payroll and other HR services to the various divisions identified in the answer to question without notice 347; for example, is HR centralised or still run by the former independent agencies?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The creation of the new Department of Communities provides an opportunity to deliver better services to families and communities in WA, as well as finding efficiencies inside government with back-of-house operations. New post–machinery-of-government structures are currently being developed and consulted upon and will be finalised in due course.
