CAMP SCHOOLS —
FAIRBRIDGE WA
167. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the state government's
regional education cuts and the decision to privatise six camp schools, which
were subsequently contracted to Fairbridge WA.
(1) Has the
Department of Education completed an assessment on the performance of
Fairbridge in respect of key performance indicators for the management of camp
schools under its control; and, if yes, can the minister please table any such
assessments?
(2) Have any of
the terms of the lease changed since the decision to pass control of the six
sites to Fairbridge?
(3) If yes to (2), please detail any
such changes.
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I do not accept the premise of the question.
Retaining the asset and contracting service delivery to a not-for-profit is not
privatisation. Selling Western Power is privatisation. Contracting a commercial
for-profit multinational company to provide key hospital services at Fiona
Stanley Hospital is privatisation. The honourable member would be familiar with
both because they were both policies of the previous Liberal–National
government.
(1)–(2) No.
(3) Not applicable.
