Parliament: 40 Session: 1

CANAL ROCKS BOAT RAMP — RISK ASSESSMENT
      390. Hon COLIN HOLT to the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the Canal Rocks boat ramp.
      (1) Is there an allocation in the budget to upgrade the launching ramp and jetty?
      (2) If yes to (1), how much is the allocation, when will the upgrade commence and what is the scope of the works?
      (3) If no funding has yet been secured, will funding from sources such as the recreational boating facilities scheme be investigated?
      (4) If the minister has no plans to upgrade the facility, is it intended that the ramp stays under the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions' control?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) No.
(2) Not applicable.
      (3) The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is engaging an independent risk expert to undertake an assessment of the Canal Rocks boat ramp that will help inform future management decisions. The assessment will be undertaken in consultation with key stakeholders.
      (4) Future management of the facility will be considered following the completion of the risk assessment.
