Question

What organisations have Government funding to deliver protective behaviours programs that aim to prevent child sexual abuse, by working to educate one or more of the following groups:
(a) parents/carers;
(b) children and young people;
(c) those who work with children and young people; and
(d) those who volunteer with children and young people?

(a-b) The Department of Communities provides funding to the following organisations to deliver services which may include the delivery of protective behaviours programs that aim to prevent child sexual abuse as part of their overall service provision:

  • Allambee Counselling Inc
  • Anglicare WA Inc
  • Carnarvon Family Support Service Inc
  • Desert Blue Connect Inc
  • Parkerville Children and Youth Care Incorporated
  • Phoenix Support & Advocacy Service
  • UnitingCare West
  • Waratah Support Centre (South West Region) Inc
  • Yaandina Family Centre Inc
  • MacKillop Family Services Inc
  • Yorgum Aboriginal Corporation
  • Sexuality Education Counselling and Consultancy Agency (SECCA) Inc
  • The Family Planning Association of Western Australia (Inc) (People 1st Programme)

c) The Department of Education provides funding for the delivery of face-to-face protective behaviours professional learning for school staff. The decision to access this professional learning is made at the school level. Principals also have the option to request a workshop for the parents of their students to assist them to support the protective behaviours education being provided by the school.

d) None.
