Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on

STATE FLEET

1043. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the minister representing the Minister for Finance:

I refer to the government vehicle list and the best buys list provided by the minister earlier this year and I note that there were no fully electric vehicles included in these lists.

(1) Does the government fleet still include two Nissan Leafs as was reported in question 515 in September last year; and, if so, why are they not included on the government vehicle list?

(2) If no to (1), were they sold and what was the sale price of these vehicles?

(3) Was the monthly whole-of-life cost calculated for the Nissan Leaf; if yes, what was it; and, if no, why not?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) Yes. The government fleet still includes two Nissan Leaf vehicles. The government vehicle list is the current contract list of available vehicles from which agencies can choose new vehicles. As the Nissan Leaf is not currently available in Australia, it has not been included in this list. Latest information from Nissan Australia suggests the new Nissan Leaf will be launched in March 2019 with first deliveries expected from mid-2019.

(2) Not applicable.

(3) No, as the vehicle is not available.
