TRANSPORT — RADIO
SYSTEMS REPLACEMENT CONTRACT
436. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the minister representing the Minister for Transport:
My question without notice is asked
on behalf of Hon Tjorn Sibma, who is on urgent parliamentary business.
I
refer to the minister's 31 March answer to my question concerning the
status of the radio systems replacement contract.
(1) What specific
progress has been made in the last six weeks by the Public Transport Authority
and the Huawei–UGL consortium in ''working through an orderly
transition process''?
(2) Does the
government have a preferred outcome for exiting the current arrangements; and,
if so, what are the details?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank Hon Tjorn Sibma for some
notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister
for Transport.
(1)–(2) The
Public Transport Authority has been in detailed discussions with the parties to
resolve the complex legal and commercial issues involved with the transition of
the current contracts and subcontracts in order to allow delivery of the radio
replacement project under new arrangements. The state government favours a transition
to a framework that will allow for the delivery of a new digital radio network
for the public transport network.
