FAMILY AND DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE — FUNDING
689. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence:
I refer to the minister's
answer to question on notice 2103, answered on 11 June 2019, which informs the
house of the allocation of new funding to
address family and domestic violence in each fiscal year of this term of
government.
(1) Is the
minister aware that the government's media statement on 29 March 2019
refers to a commitment of more than $21 million?
(2) Is the
minister aware that her itemisation in answer to my question on notice totals
only $20.159 million?
(3) When will the minister issue a correction
and an apology?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Yes.
(3) No correction
is required. This government has demonstrated a track record of significant
investment into the prevention of family and
domestic violence and is still committed to delivering on all of its
commitments. The member's question queried what funding had been
spent for specific financial periods, ending on polling day in 2021. Funding
for some of those initiatives extends beyond 2020–21. As the member
would be aware, government funding typically aligns with financial year cycles,
not electoral cycles.
