METHAMPHETAMINE —
MANDURAH
1448. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to a recent report in the Mandurah
Mail of 13 November that in the first six months of 2019, 175 000 clean needles were handed out to drug users. However,
police statistics show a 6.8 per cent decrease in the five-year average for drug offences. This figure is in relation to
drug possession or dealing and not necessarily reflective of drug crime.
(1) How many drug
offences involving methamphetamine have been recorded for the suburb of
Mandurah in the last five years?
(2) How many
recorded offences of any nature in the last five years for the suburb of
Mandurah are deemed to be related to methamphetamine?
(3) What category
of crimes is most often linked to methamphetamine use for the suburb of Mandurah?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
