BIODIVERSITY,
CONSERVATION AND ATTRACTIONS — PROCUREMENT CONTROLS
943. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
I refer to the weaknesses in
procurement controls detected at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation
and Attractions by the assistant Auditor General during 2021–22
financial year.
(1) When were the procurement
controls designed and implemented at DBCA?
(2) Were the procurement controls
altered in any way after they were initially implemented at DBCA?
(3) If yes to (2), when and for
what purpose?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The procurement controls subject
to scrutiny during the audit have been consistent for the last five years.
(2) Yes.
(3) In 2019, the
minimum purchase value for works, goods or services for which quotes are
required was raised from $20 000 to $50 000, in line with the Department of Finance's
procurement guidelines.
