STATE DISABILITY PLAN

1413. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Minister for Disability Services:

I refer to the ''My Life, My Choice'' report of the Joint Select Committee on End of Life Choices tabled in August 2018 and recommendation 9 of the minority report, which states —

The Minister for Disability Services should develop a plan, in consultation with people with disabilities, carers, the Minister for Health and health practitioners, to deliver equitable access to health care in Western Australia.

What is the status of that plan?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for the question.

As the honourable member alluded to, that recommendation was in fact in the minority report of the committee to this chamber. It was not the view of the majority of the committee and no action has been taken on it. While I am on my feet, I advise the honourable member that a great deal of work on a state disability plan is happening in the disability space at the moment. That will look at what services and supports should be provided to people with disability into the future, and that work has been consulted on by the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability and also by the Disability Services Commission board this year. The consultation has taken place across Western Australia and I am confident that the state disability plan will be a great blueprint for the future of service provision for people with disability in this state.
