Question Without Notice No. 944 asked in the Legislative Council on 5 December 2017 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

STATE BUDGET 2017–18 — WESTERN POWER NETWORK TARIFFS
      944. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Energy:
Madam President, this will sound like a long question, but I assure you it will not take long at all—I hope! It is a matter of getting information.
I refer to the 2017–18 budget. What is the forecast increase in network tariffs for Western Power for 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20 and 2010–21 for the following tariffs —
(a) A1/A2;
(b) C1/C2;
(c) D1/D2;
(d) K1/K2;
(e) L1/L2;
(f) R1;
(g) UMS;
(h) W1/W2;
(i) Z;
(j) L3/L4; and,
(k) R3?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question. I am advised that the answer is as follows.
      (a)–(k) I note that the member's question relates to retail tariffs. As some members are aware, there is not a direct correlation between Western Power's network tariffs and regulated retail tariffs. Furthermore, Western Power is regulated under a revenue cap and forecasts revenue, not prices. Western Power's pricing is an annual process and will vary each year based on customer volumes and other factors. Western Power is also subject to independent economic regulation by the Economic Regulation Authority. A regulatory determination by the Economic Regulation Authority of Western Power's five-year fourth access arrangement, known as AA4, is due by 1 July 2018. Western Power has submitted an annual price for 2018–19 as part of its AA4 submission, and I can provide the following network tariff charges. The information is in tabular form, so I seek leave to have it incorporated in Hansard.
Leave granted.
The following material was incorporated —
