CORONAVIRUS — STIMULUS PACKAGE

421. Hon CHARLES SMITH to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the federal government's $100 billion infrastructure fund for COVID-19 infrastructure stimulus packages for state governments.

(1) Has the state government commenced its negotiations with the commonwealth for Western Australia to receive its fair share of per capita funding from the commonwealth?

(2) When can Western Australian workers expect an announcement on Western Australia's COVID-19-related shovel-ready projects?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for Transport.

(1)–(2) The state government has worked cooperatively with the federal government and has been successful in securing significant funding contributions towards infrastructure projects. The state government commenced negotiations with the federal government two months ago to secure its population share of the COVID-19 stimulus packable available to the states.
