PUBLIC SECTOR COMMISSION
— INDEPENDENT REVIEW OF CONTRACTS
1258. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Finance:
I refer again to the Public Sector
Commission's ''Independent Review of Contracts'', dated
23 October 2018.
(1) Noting the
limitations imposed by the report's terms of reference, will the
government make a final decision in relation to the so-called temporary
suspension of contractors named in the August Corruption and Crime Commission
report into practices at the North Metropolitan Health Service?
(2) If yes to (1), what process will be followed to guide the
decision-making process?
(3) Further to
(2), which agency will manage the process and advise the government of its
recommendations, and will that agency seek the services of any external
adviser; and, if so, who, and at what cost?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Finance.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3) The
Department of Finance will consider all relevant material and make a recommendation
to government, after affording the contractors procedural fairness. It is not
anticipated that any advisers external to government will be engaged.
