Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 386 asked in the Legislative Council on 16 August 2017 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

PERTH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL — LEAD CONTAMINATION
      386. Hon PETER COLLIER to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to part of the minister's response yesterday to question without notice 357, which reads as follows —
Water quality was deemed to be a minor defect under the Perth Children's Hospital managing contractor contract on the basis that, rectification of the defect would not unduly impact on the operation of the hospital.
      (1) Can the Treasurer confirm that the thermostatic mixing valves and assembly boxes are the sole source of lead in the hospital?
      (2) If no to part (1), have all sources been identified; and, if so, what are they?
      (3) If no to (2), how can the Treasurer be certain that rectification of the defect would not unduly impact upon the operation of the hospital?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I am not comfortable with the answer that I have been provided and I seek to provide the Leader of the Opposition with an answer at the earliest available opportunity.
