refer to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services November 2018 report
Contact with Friends and Family While in Custody, and I ask:
(a) has
the department now resolved issues associated with
meeting legislative requirements for remand prisoners in Roebourne Regional
Prison;
(b) if
yes to (a), how often are social visits now offered in the prison; and
(c) if
no to (a), why not?

(a) Yes. An updated Staffing Level Agreement (SLA) for Roebourne Regional Prison has recently been approved and this includes a dedicated Visits Officer position.
(b) The new position will allow for visits to be scheduled at Roebourne Regional Prison seven days a week.
(c) It is anticipated that recruiting to the position and rostering requirements for the new Staffing Level Agreement will be completed by the end of June 2019.
