ELDER ABUSE PROTOCOL GUIDELINES — REVIEW
      252. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Seniors and Ageing:
I refer to the statement by the Minister for Seniors and Ageing in the other place on 15 June 2017 announcing a review of the elder abuse protocol guidelines.
(1) Who will conduct the review?
(2) When will the reviewers commence their work?
(3) What are the terms of reference for the review?
(4) When is the review scheduled to be completed?
(5) Will the minister table a copy of the current elder abuse protocol guidelines?
(6) If yes to (5), when?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
      (1) Advocare Inc, on behalf of the Alliance for the Prevention of Elder Abuse: Western Australia, will engage Dr Barbara Blundell. Dr Blundell is an academic at Curtin University with expertise in ageing, disability, rights-based advocacy and elder abuse.
(2) Work will commence in July 2017.
      (3) The review will evaluate the effectiveness of the current protocol guidelines. This process will include obtaining feedback from stakeholders, including service providers and relevant networks.
(4) The review and drafting of the revised protocol will conclude in December 2017.
(5)–(6) I table the requested report, ''Elder Abuse Protocol: Guidelines for Action''.
