CORONAVIRUS — INTERSTATE BORDER
RESTRICTIONS
1079. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the Premier's recent comments that
bringing down Western Australia's hard border will require new
coronavirus restrictions as a precautionary measure to keep the community safe.
(1) Is this comment and the subsequent approach based on
health advice—after today?
(2) If yes to (1), will the Premier table this advice; and,
if not, why not?
(3) Does the
Premier stand behind his statement ''Some people in business seem to
want the virus to come back, they seem to think that's a better outcome'';
and, if so, to whom in the business community is the Premier referring?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1)–(3)
The member's wording is incorrect. The Premier noted that the bringing
down of the hard border ''may'' require new restrictions. As with
all aspects of dealing with this global pandemic, decisions will be made based
upon the latest advice from the Chief Health Officer.
