Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 900 asked in the Legislative Council on 21 August 2019 by Hon Colin Holt

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

ALBANY HEALTH CAMPUS — ACCREDITATION

900. Hon COLIN HOLT to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to claims that the Albany Health Campus has recently failed an accreditation process.

(1) Has the hospital failed to meet the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards or some other measure?

(2) If yes to (1), what are the details of the failure specifically, and on what date was the assessment reported?

(3) If yes to (1), will the minister please table the report relating to the failed assessment?

(4) What action has been taken by the WA Country Health Service and hospital management to rectify the situation?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I am advised of the following.

(1) The ''National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards: Second edition'' was implemented in January 2019, and the WA Country Health Service, great southern, including Albany Health Campus, was the first service in WA to be assessed against this version of the standards. The region has been fully accredited for a further three years, following an assessment process in July.

(2)–(4) Not applicable.
