WOODSIDE ENERGY —
PILBARA JOBS
454. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the Woodside local
employment initiative.
(1) How many people from Karratha
and Roebourne have been employed locally?
(2) Are these figures reported?
(3) If yes to (2), will the minister
please table all the reports that are available?
(4) If no to (2), why not?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Under the Woodside
local participation plan signed in May 2018, Woodside committed to
introducing a local jobs portal within one month of execution of a crown lease
for the Bay Village land. Negotiations to finalise the lease are ongoing.
Nevertheless, Woodside has been operating the Karratha local jobs portal since
May 2018 and is working with other local employers to link their recruitment
websites.
(2) Woodside is
required to report on the performance of the local jobs portal, starting three
months after commencement of the construction of Bay Village and annually
thereafter.
(3)–(4) In the meantime, as at 15 February, Woodside has
advised that since June 2018, there have been 49 ads for 135 job and training roles at Woodside-operated sites,
including with Woodside, Programmed, Monadelphous, MGJV, UCJV, NEMMS JV
and Matera. Available roles have been filled by locals or people willing to
relocate as residential in Karratha. Seven Woodside logistics operator roles at
King Bay supply facility were recently filled by locals. There have been 884
people registered as members on the site.
