STATE SOLICITOR'S
OFFICE
456. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary representing
the Attorney General:
I refer to the Attorney General's
media statement on 8 July 2021, which announced that the State Solicitor's
Office will now be an independent sub-department of the Department of Justice.
(1) Is the
Attorney General aware that it has been more than three years since this
recommendation was made in the Langoulant report?
(2) What has been
the cost to the state in implementing this recommendation?
(3) Will the
Attorney General table the business case relating to this matter?
Hon
MATTHEW SWINBOURN replied:
I thank the member for some notice
of the question, and I provide the following response on behalf of the Attorney
General.
(1)–(3) The
establishment of the State Solicitor's Office as an independent
sub-department of the Department of Justice was the subject of a cabinet
decision. It will have minimal impact on the state's finances.
