HEALTH — PRECISION HEALTH COUNCIL
445. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE
to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the minister's media statement of 23 April
2019, establishing a precision health council.
(1) What are the terms of reference for the council?
(2) What is the remuneration and term of appointment for each
council member?
(3) Was a public
advertising and application process conducted to establish the council; and, if
not, what process was followed to appoint council members?
(4) Did the
minister seek advice on the appropriateness of appointing an impartial office
holder of the Legislative Council to chair this executive government committee
and whether this creates an unacceptable conflict to the office of the
President of the Legislative Council?
(5) If yes to (4), what was that advice?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY
replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) I table
the terms of reference.
[See paper
2671.]
(2) The
members of the precision health council will not be remunerated for their
services. The term of appointment is included in the terms of reference.
(3) The
Department of Health provided advice on a range of potential members, who
represented the breadth of relevant sectors, for the Minister for Health's
consideration.
(4) No. The
precision health council has been convened for the purposes of providing
strategic advice regarding precision health. All members are expected to manage
any conflicts of interest appropriately.
(5) Not
applicable.
