Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 240 asked in the Legislative Council on 10 April 2018 by Hon Tjorn Sibma

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

KIDSPORT — VOUCHER ELIGIBILITY

240. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Sport and Recreation:

I refer to the minister's decision in December last year to exclude scouts, girl guides and cadets from eligibility for KidSport vouchers from 1 July 2018.

(1) Has the minister changed his mind on the cut-off date for the denial of eligibility?

(2) If yes to (1), what are these changes?

(3) Will the minister go further still and reinstate full eligibility to ensure that scouts, girl guides, and cadets can still access the KidSport scheme as has been the case since 2011?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I have an answer with a table attached to it but I do not think the table necessarily belongs with the answer. I will give the member the answer and I will check on the table because I think it goes with the other question.

(1)–(3) No; all clubs participating in the program will be required to fulfil the eligibility criteria to continue to be eligible KidSport clubs, following a transition period to 30 November 2018. All Western Australian children aged five to 18 years with a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card will remain eligible for KidSport.
