I refer to the minister's
response to my question without notice 1148 asked yesterday.
(1) Which
councils have identified challenges?
(2) What are the
challenges that have been identified by individual councils?
(3) How is the
government working with councils to help address individual challenges?
(4) Can the
minister table any correspondence with councils on this issue?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Planning.
(1)–(4) For
many years local governments, in particular in the Pilbara,� have faced the
challenge of balancing the promotion of economic development and permanent population
growth with satisfying the workforce management requirements of industry. The
position statement document is intended to assist local governments to address
workforce accommodation when preparing and implementing local planning schemes
and strategies.
