LOTTERYWEST GRANTS —
CHURCHES
1036. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I put this question in yesterday,
and I was informed late today that an answer is not available, but I will ask
the question now, and I will get the response on Tuesday, I hope.
I refer to the Lotterywest grants
process.
(1) Has any
church applied for, or expressed an interest in, a Lotterywest grant recently
that has been refused based upon the attitudes or values of that church?
(2) If yes to
(1), which church was involved, what was the substance of the grant, and what
were the attitudes or values of the church that were responsible for the
request being rejected?
(3) If yes to
(1), who made the determination to reject the application, and why?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
As the member outlined before he
asked his question, he was advised earlier today that the Premier has not been
able to provide a response. I will undertake to give the member a response on
the next sitting day.
