WATER CORPORATION —
GRASS PATCH DAM
1363. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Water:
I refer to question without notice
1324 asked yesterday, which related to Grass Patch Dam.
(1) What is the
minimum water level of dams at which the Water Corporation allows water to be
taken and is this different for dams that provide drinking water versus dams
used for stock water purposes?
(2) What is the current water level
and total volume of Grass Patch Dam?
(3) How often is the Water
Corporation monitoring the water level of Grass Patch Dam?
Hon
ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the question.
The following information has been provided by the Minister for Water.
(1) The
designated minimum level for Grass Patch Dam is two metres. There is no
difference in minimum water levels for drinking water versus stock water. The
minimum level is dictated by the design of the dam, not the use of the water.
(2) The current
level of the Water Corporation Grass Patch Dam is 1.45 metres. Based on the
current level, the current volume of the dam is estimated to be 4.05 million
litres. The total capacity of the dam is 18 million litres.
(3) The Water Corporation's
frequency of inspections for Grass Patch Dam is weekly.
