I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
(1) As part of
the Department of Communities' standard procurement planning process,
internal discussions commenced in early 2018 about options to review the
grandcarers program area, which comprises the grandcarers support scheme,
grandcare service and the grandcarers assistance respite program.
(2) At the
request of the Minister for Community Services, on 12 June 2018 the Department
of Communities provided advice on funding options for the grandcarers
assistance respite program. On that date the minister approved additional grant
funding for that program to maintain continuity of service provision while the
review of the overall program area is conducted.
(3) The internal process leading to the decision to review
the program area is not documented.
(4) Not applicable.
(5) The review
will be conducted by the Department of Communities as part of the routine
service review and design planning process.
(6) A project plan for the review will be developed by the
Department of Communities.
